$42,500 OTF Grant from Ontario Government is a Real Hit in Petrolia!
On Saturday, local MPP Bob Bailey joined Town of Petrolia Mayor R. Brad Loosley for a ribbon cutting ceremony for recently installed Baseball equipment at Greenwood Park thanks to a $42,500 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
“I’m extremely pleased that the Town of Petrolia is able to make these upgrades at Greenwood Park thanks to this important grant from the Ontario Government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Bob Bailey, MPP for Sarnia-Lambton. “Greenwood Park is a recreation hub in the Petrolia community; the new bleachers and batting cage will be a welcome addition to the busy ball diamonds.”
Awarded in June 2025, the grant funded the installation of three bleachers and a batting cage at the baseball diamonds in Greenwood Park. The new installations will enhance the viewing experience and improve the practice spaces at the park, helping to promote the sport of Baseball in Petrolia.
“I am so pleased to see this project complete with the support of the Province of Ontario. I would like to extend our thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of Petrolia. This will be a great addition at Morrison Field,” said R. Brad Loosley, Mayor for the Town of Petrolia.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation OTF is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. In 2025-26, OFT invested nearly $107M in 746 community projects. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment. How You Can Help
Our Message
Safe Streets, Strong Communities… Together We Can Stop Crime.
When communities work together with law enforcement, everyone benefits. Even one tip can help bring justice, prevent harm, and create safer places to live, learn, and work.
Take Action Today
If you have information about a crime, submit an anonymous tip through the Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers program by calling 1(800)222-TIPS (8477) or use the online reporting system www.p3tips.com.
Together, we can make a difference—one tip at a time.
Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers is pleased to launch a new program to make it easy for people to see something and say something – anonymously. This pilot program launched in Petrolia this month, and through community signage, residents are encouraged to speak up.
“…We think of it as a way to remind people that when they know something about an incident or criminal activity in your community that it’s easy to send in a tip and potentially earn a reward for doing so. Our goal is to get drugs off the streets and bring criminals to justice.” Said Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers President, Sean Robbins.
The signs are placed around Petrolia as a passive reminder that you can make a difference when you have information, and that your information may lead to a reward. Importantly, these tips can lead to arrests and contribute to the solution of unsolved crimes and prosecution of those involved.
“Keeping neighbourhoods, schools and businesses safe are key to safe communities. Confidentially speaking up can prevent harm and prevent future crimes.” Added, Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers Vice President Jeff Stoudt.
Sarnia-Lambton Board Members will be appealing to each community in the County of Lambton to consider placing these signs to share in the effort of promoting community safety.
For more information, or to request some signs for your community, please contact Sarnia- Lambton Crime Stoppers at contactus@sarnialambtoncrimestoppers.org.
