Air Quality Cancellations, Fire Ban in Petrolia for July 17, 18 & 19, 2026
Due to the forecast of unhealthy air quality due to the wildfire smoke affecting the region this weekend, the Town of Petrolia have announced the following cancellations.
Friday, July 17, 2026
Closed – All Municipal Recreation Fields
Saturday, July 18, 2026
Cancelled – Petrolia Farmers’ Market (7:30 a.m. – noon) at 396 Fletcher Street
Cancelled – “Saturdays in the Park” (Live music at the Victoria Park Bandshell from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.)
Closed – All Municipal Recreation Fields
Sunday, July 19, 2026
Closed – All Municipal Recreation Fields
Cancelled – Petrolia Ministerial – Outdoor Church Service (7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Victoria Park Bandshell)
In addition, please note that there is a Municipal fire ban in place for these dates. During the fire ban, all open-air burning is prohibited within the Municipality. In addition, no new Open Air Burn Permits will be issued or approved while the ban remains in effect.
The temporary fire ban has been implemented to help reduce smoke and protect the health and safety of residents during the current air quality event.
The ban is expected to remain in effect until Monday, July 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at which time it is anticipated to be lifted, subject to air quality conditions.
The Municipality will continue to monitor air quality conditions and will advise the public if the duration of the fire ban changes.
