2026 Petrolia Fishing Derby Winners

The Fishing Derby was a very popular event for families in Petrolia to spend a couple of hours this morning.  Several fish were caught, measured and released at the event sponsored by The Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club.  There were 70 young anglers between 6 months and 16 years of age registered for the event, that saw 55 fish caught and released.

The winners by age category are as follows:

4 and Under

1^st – Fisher McClelland – 7.25” Crappie

5- & 6-Year Old’s

1^st – Kinsley Carpenter – 24” Carp

2^nd –Aurora Webster– 10.5” Crappie

3^rd – Zoey Davidson – 5.75” Sunfish

7, 8- & 9-Year Old’s

1^st – Wyatt Deelstra – 19” Carp

2^nd – William Horton – 18” Catfish

3^rd –Xander Copley – 15.5” Carp

10, 11- & 12-Year Old’s

1^st – Jax Britney – 21.5” Pike

2^nd –Dixon Bedard – 10” Rock Bass

3^rd – Brantley White – 9” Crappie

Age 13+

1^st – Tie Richards – 23.5” Catfish

2^nd – Beau Taylor – 17” Catfish

3^rd – Chloe Reid – 14.25” Carp

Most Minnows Caught – Liam Daley – 3 total

Most Fish Caught:  Carter Wilson– 8 fish in total

Not fish:

1 Crayfish

1 Soft—Shell Turtle
