The Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The new Council term begins Sunday, November 15, 2026, and ends on Thursday, November 14, 2030.

In accordance with section 17(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, a person is entitled to be an elector at an election held in a local municipality if on voting day they;

• reside in the local municipality or are the owner or tenant of land therein, or are the spouse of such owner or tenant;
• are a Canadian citizen;
• are at least 18 years old, and
• are not otherwise prohibited from voting by law.

On May 10, 2021, Petrolia Council passed By-Law 16-2021 to authorize the use of internet voting methods during a Municipal and School Board Election. The internet voting method ensures that eligible electors can cast their ballot in an accessible, convenient, safe and environmentally friendly method of voting. This method of voting was used in the 2018 and 2022 Municipal Elections.
