What is The Petrolia Community Fund?

The Petrolia Community Fund was established in 2012.  It was established for local residence to make a lasting difference in their community.  Since it’s inception, the Petrolia Community Fund has disbursed over $55 000 back into the Town of Petrolia, supporting youth programs, facility improvements and community projects.

Known as The Greatest Town on Earth, Petrolia’s unique and rich history as the cradle of the global oil industry is reflected in its countless lush green parks, grand church spires, colourful gardens and beautiful neighbourhoods. The Town’s commitment to the preservation of its history supports a quality of life that energizes its residents and inspires its visitors. Petrolia honours its success and takes pride in its fiercely independent community spirit. The Petrolia Community Fund is one means for its citizens to continue building on that rich heritage.

Mike Barron, Executive Director at Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) had this to say, “Foundations are the connecting conduit within communities.  The Parents for Parks group were recent recipients of the 2024 SCF’s Women of Excellence; their community park was a collaboration with community leaders, the Town of Petrolia and the SCF and it has had a major impact on improving community engagement!”

As one of Lambton’s counties most comprehensive charities and a centre for community philanthropy, the (SCF) is home to a growing number of funds that support all areas of charitable endeavour.  Since 1983 the SCF has returned more than 10 million dollars to a wide variety of local community projects and charitable endeavours.

You can designate your annual disbursement to a community project, charity, or non-profit organization.

You can have your annual disbursement go to the Petrolia Fund and help with the grants in your community.

You will receive a tax-receipt for your donations.
