Sarnia-Lambton Arbor Week Committee Donates Trees to Petrolia in Honour of the Sesquicentennial!
Petrolia, ON – The Sarnia-Lambton Arbor Week Committee has chosen Petrolia as the recipient of several new trees this fall in recognition of the community celebrating 150 years of incorporation.
The trees, donated and planted by the Committee and Enbridge, are located south of the new soccer fields at the YMCA and were planted by committee members John DeGroot, Sharon Nethercott, Brenda Lorenz, along with Robin Ellwood and Enbridge volunteers. Mayor R. Brad Loosley was in attendance to celebrate the generous gift and to say a few words of thanks.
Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, Julie Bullock said, “Trees and green spaces are vital to communities as they provide shade and animal habitats, they contribute to beautification and are essential to life. We are very grateful for the generosity of the Sarnia-Lambton Arbor Week Committee and Enbridge for this gift to our community.”
The Town of Petrolia has been celebrating all year long with monthly events, and a few large-scale celebrations. The events continue through January 1, 2025, and details can be found at www.petrolia150.com.
