Property Tax Due Dates
2014 tax installments are due by 4:30pm (close of business) on the following dates:
2014 Interim Tax Installment Due:
February 28, 2014
May 30, 2014
2014 Final Tax Installment Due:
August 29, 2014
October 31, 2014
Please note the changes to the tax due dates from previous years.
Tax Payment Options
Property owners in the Town of Petrolia have the following payment options available to them for paying their property taxes:
1. In person at the Municipal Office at 411 Greenfield Street 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. CASH, CHEQUE, or DEBIT only.
2. By mail to: Town of Petrolia, 411 Greenfield Street, PO Box 1270, Petrolia, ON, N0N 1R0. Please note that payments must be received by the town on or before the due date, or penalty and interest will be applied to the outstanding balance.
3. Electronic Fund Transfer via the Internet or telephone banking. Your account number is your 19 digit property tax roll number located in the top left of your property tax bill.
**Please note: If paying your tax bill through telephone or Internet banking or an automatic teller, please pay before the due date to allow enough time for your financial institution to transfer the funds to the Town by the due date. Some Financial institutions may take up to 72 hours to process your payment.

Interest & Penalty
A penalty of 1.25% for the entire month will be applied on the first day taxes are past due and every month thereafter in which default continues in the year 2014.
Interest will be added commencing January 1, 2014 at the rate of 1.25% per month on the first of every month. Payments are applied to the oldest outstanding amount until the account is current.
The Tax Department has no authority to waive or alter a penalty and/or interest for any reason.
In accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, any tax account payments will be applied first against late payment charges owing, starting with the oldest charges; and then payments will be applied against the taxes owing. In other words, all penalty and interest charges have to be paid first before payments are applied to taxes owing.
