The Rotary Club of Petrolia Donates Sign to Victoria Park

Posted: December 11, 2018

At the regular meeting of Petrolia Council last night, the Rotary Club of Petrolia presented a cheque to the Town of Petrolia in the amount of $7708.35 for a new information and way-finding sign for the North-East corner of Victoria Park.

In the 2018 Municipal Budget, funds were set aside for sign and park improvements to Victoria Park, and this timely donation will cover the cost of a three panel sign that will have a map of Petrolia with a legend highlighting points of interest, there will be a Community Events panel where the Town of Petrolia will post service club and organizations posters and event information.  The third panel will be used for Town of Petrolia communications and notices.  The sign will also have brochure and pamphlet holders across the bottom that will hold maps, brochures about dining, shopping guides, the visitors guide and more.

Director of Community Services, Dave Menzies said, “The Rotary Club of Petrolia is an outstanding community partner.  When their other park sign was destroyed in a storm, we wanted to get something installed that would help both residents and visitors.  We are so grateful for their generosity and continued support of the Town of Petrolia.”  There will also be a recognition plaque added to the sign recognizing The Rotary Club of Petrolia for their support of the park.

There will be sidewalks installed so that the sign is accessible to all, and it will feature lighting and rose gardens.  Details about these items are forthcoming in the next couple of months.
