Mayor Voices Concern Over Vandalism at Petrolia Discovery
Following the announcement of numerous occurrences of vandalism at the Petrolia Discovery site, Petrolia Mayor R. Brad Loosley has shared his concerns with the escalating issue.
“Following the information provided to the public by the Petrolia Discovery Foundation, regarding the continued, escalating vandalism at their historic site, I would like to express my concerns about the negative impact these acts are having on a particularly important piece of history in the Town of Petrolia and for the entire oil industry.
The Petrolia Discovery Foundation volunteers spend several hundred hours each year taking care of the facility, working to upgrade the site, and providing tours to visitors and members of the community. The reports of vandalism and mischievous behaviour are most disappointing, and an affront to what the residents of Petrolia feel about the importance of preserving our heritage.
I ask the community to please step forward if you have any knowledge of the perpetrators of these events by calling the non-emergency OPP number at 1(888)310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.p3tips.com.”
