I would first like to state that I am very proud of our community for how hard you have all been working to follow the guidelines as set by the Province of Ontario. I know that the past year has seen us face many new challenges, and I am pleased at how well we have supported one another.
We all have a responsibility to one another, to our business owners, and to our frontline workers. We are each responsible for continuing to wear our masks, maintaining physical distance, and practicing hand hygiene. The changes to the guidelines for the Province of Ontario as they relate to COVID-19 are in place for the health and safety of all residents.
With the heightened risk of variants of COVID-19 increasing the possibility of community spread by at least 2X, now is the time to stay home. Please continue to think local first when you make your shopping trips for groceries, personal care items and for takeout dining. Please continue to visit our retailers and visit www.shoppetroliaonline.com to support our personal services during this shutdown, and most of all, please be safe.
As vaccinations continue to become more and more available in our community, I ask that you inform yourself about registering and helping those that need the support to access the online registration portal or by assisting them in calling to register. Please visit www.getthevaccine.ca for details as many groups are now eligible for vaccination pre-registration and registration.
As we approach the Easter weekend, I encourage families to avoid gathering to celebrate. I encourage residents to enjoy a meal with members of their household only. Households are encouraged to go outdoors and be active, go walking, hiking, or cycling.
I remain positive that our community will continue to work together to keep one another safe and healthy and continue to do what is asked of them. Stay home, keep well, stay safe and please be kind – online and in person.
