Mayor Letter to Residents – July 3, 2020
Posted: July 3, 2020
As we continue to learn how to safely navigate shopping, personal appointments, and limited social interactions it is so nice to see so many people supporting Petrolia’s downtown. Now, more than ever, it is important to look local first and to spend money in Petrolia.
Canada Day in Petrolia was a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday! It was my pleasure to see so many community groups and organizations working together to make the day a memorable one given the current limitations. The “Tour de Petrolia” was wonderful, and it was so nice to see so many families biking, driving, and walking around our great town. I would like to personally thank our volunteers, our sponsors, and our community partners for a great day!
Petrolia is a busy place, with a Family Fishing Week Fishing Derby announced for the week of July 4-12, 2020. As many things are, it will be a little different this year, but two things remain unchanged: this is a great family activity that is fun for all ages, and it provides some fun and recreation for our residents to look forward to. I would like to thank our sponsors and events staff for providing this great opportunity for family fun and friendly competition!
Petrolia restaurants are welcoming you to their new patio spaces, and we encourage you to show them your support. Staff have been exceptional in supporting the quick processing of the patio requests and inspecting the sites so that picnic tables can be delivered and set up. I would like to express my gratitude for the “can do” attitude from our community and for their ability to find efficiency and creative solutions to work together and help each other.
Please accept my gratitude on behalf of Council and Staff for your patience and understanding as we all learn to navigate the changes alongside all of you. I am pleased to remind you that the Municipal Office is open to the public and encourage you to call (519)882-2350 for an appointment. Keep smiling Petrolia, you are all a part of our awesome community and the reason we have strong community spirit and genuine pride! #PetroliaProud
