Maintenance Work at Victoria Hall to be Assisted by Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department
Posted: February 12, 2020
Maintenance work on the stained-glass Rose Window panels in the clock tower at Town Hall will see members of the Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department utilizing Ladder Truck 13 at 411 Greenfield Street in order to reach the site on Tuesday, February 18 and Wednesday, February 19.
On Tuesday February 18, working cooperatively with the Director of Protective Services/Fire Chief and members of the Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department, the new ladder truck will be used to provide contractors and fire personnel access to the exterior sections of the windows to obtain patterns of each section. These patterns will then be transferred to produce 3M clear shatterproof adhesives to be applied to each section. This is the safest, quickest and most cost-effective way to maintain the integrity and durability of the rose window panels without changing the appearance. The scheduled start time is 8:00 a.m. and the work should take approximately two hours.
On Wednesday February 19, the product will be installed on the panels. The scheduled start time is 8:00 a.m. and the work should take approximately eight hours to complete.
To apply the product to the West windows, members of the Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department’s trained repelling team will be scaling the outside of the tower. This operation is under direction of the Director of Protective Services/Fire Chief, who said, “…We are grateful for this opportunity to perform a training exercise that utilizes the height capabilities of the new ladder truck and allows our members to practice safely working at heights and put their repelling training to use.”
Sidewalk closures around Victoria Hall are necessary to complete this work safely and in a timely manner. Access to Victoria Hall will be maintained, Town Hall and Victoria Playhouse Petrolia Box Office operations will remain unaffected. Ladder Truck 13 will respond to any service calls as needed throughout the duration of the project.
Director of Community Services and Facilities said, “We appreciate the partnership with the Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department to complete this project in a quick and efficient manner. This maintenance will ensure that the integrity of the glass panels is maintained and prevent future costly repairs.”
