Petrolia Council Donates $5000 to Petrolia YMCA Strong Kids Campaign

The Council of the Town of Petrolia showed their support to the Petrolia YMCA Strong Kids program at their regular meeting of Council this evening in Petrolia.

The YMCA Strong Kids program is structured to assist with Membership Fees, Activity Passes and Special Interest Programs.  The financial assistance is available to those who are unable, not unwilling, to pay full regular fees.  The Town of Petrolia is honoured to be recognized as the lead donor to this program in the amount of $5000.

The $5000 was re-allocated to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign after the YMCA’s of Southwestern Ontario took over management of the facility last year.  Previously, this budgeted amount was used for a similar campaign called “Helping Everyone Get Active, or HEGA” that was administered by the Town of Petrolia.

This partnership to assist Petrolia and area residents speaks to the Strategic Plan for the Town of Petrolia by providing a Family oriented, full-service community; increased participation of residents from all age groups in physical, recreational and leisure activities, and citizen engagement.

Chief Administrative Officer, Rick Charlebois said, “We are very pleased with the Petrolia YMCA and wish them success in their annual Strong Kids campaign.”
