SHOP PETROLIA, ONLINE A HUGE $17K SUCCESS!
The Volunteer Business Group partnered with the Town of Petrolia to present a three-day weekend event from Friday, March 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 9:00 p.m.
Participating merchants had specials, discounts, and featured products available for that weekend only. Items purchased during the event will be available as early as the following Tuesday, March 9.
This online shopping event was open to all merchants in the Town of Petrolia and 34 registered to participate. Event organizers are “…extremely happy with the number of merchants and restaurants that participated.” Said Downtown Business Liaison and Petrolia Volunteer Business Group Chairperson, Denise Thibeault.
Over the weekend there was a daily draw where shoppers were entered to win the total value of their purchase in Petrolia Bucks (currency that can only be used in Petrolia at participating merchants and restaurants), and those winners were:
Friday – Loriley White – $190
Saturday – Bobi-Jo VanMeenen – $410
Sunday – Margaret Fraser – $410
The online shop saw 3,120 visitors throughout the weekend and closed just over $17,000.00 in sales.
Ms. Thibeault added, “We are very pleased that every participating merchant and restaurant closed the weekend with sales. Many stores are closed on Friday evenings and Sunday’s and this was a nice way for us to help add to their regular weekend sales success. Many participants have been closed for much of the past year and we wanted to think of a promotion that would help them financially, without causing high traffic numbers in their shops or restaurants all at once, and I think we managed to do that quite successfully.”
Shoppers are asked to watch for the next Petrolia shopping promotion this Spring being announced later this month.
Director of Marketing, Arts and Communications, Laurissa Ellsworth, said. “It’s always a pleasure to see our community come together to rally around a cause, and in this case, to show financial support to participating businesses at a time when they need it the most. Our strong and vibrant downtown is incredibly important to our community and I am glad that this type of event was so well-received.”
