ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BR. 216, PETROLIA PROVIDES UPDATE REGARDING REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020

The Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 216, Petrolia has provided the following information to the Town of Petrolia regarding Remembrance Day 2020. Poppy Chairperson, Joe Card has asked that this information be shared with our community.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 216, Petrolia has provided the following list for quick reference.
1. Poppy boxes will still be placed at businesses on October 30, 2020
2. On November 8, 2020, all veteran wreaths as well as wreaths from all the businesses, service groups and schools will be pre-laid.
3. There will be no Remembrance Day parade this year.
4. There will be a small service on November 11, 2020 at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park. This year this service will be for invited guests only.
5. There will be no Remembrance Day Banquet.
Residents with questions, or those looking to make donations to the Poppy Campaign are asked to contact Poppy Chairperson, Joe Card at (226)932-6042 or mail your donation to Petrolia Legion, 4129 Glenview Rd., Petrolia, ON, N0N 1R0. Cheques should be made out to The Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 216 Poppy Fund.

“Just because we cannot safely gather at this time it does not mean that we cannot take time to remember and express our gratitude for the service of these women and men. Please make time to visit the Cenotaph during the month of November with your family and participate in our poppy campaign should you be able to do so.” Said Mr. Card.
