HumboldtFollowing the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, Mayor John McCharles has acknowledged the devastating news stating that “…this touches our community also.  Hockey is at the heart of Petrolia, and we send our sincere condolences to the families and communities affected by this tragedy.”  He added, “For that reason, I am encouraging residents and business owners to participate in the social media planned ‘Jersey Day’ on April 12, where people are encouraged to wear a hockey jersey to their school or workplace.”

Further, Mayor McCharles has chosen Greenwood Recreation Centre as the town facility location to lower the flag to half-mast for the day of April 12 as a display of community support.
