PETROLIA CANCELS TOWNWIDE GARAGE SALES, POSTPONES LARGE ITEM COLLECTION

The Volunteer Business Group, with cooperation from the Town of Petrolia has cancelled Petrolia’s Annual Town Wide Garage Sale Days on April 24 and 25, 2020.

This effort is the latest cancellation aimed at stopping the spread of covid-19 and is focused on maintaining physical distancing.

Residents are advised that By-Law enforcement officers, County of Lambton By-Law enforcement officers and the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police will be patrolling the community that weekend and that fines will start at $750.00 for anyone that should choose to proceed.

As well, the Town of Petrolia in conjunction with Waste Management has postponed the spring Large Item Pick Up originally scheduled for Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 1, 2020.  This decision was made in consideration of the health and safety of the staff at Waste Management.  A new date has not been confirmed at this time.  Residents will be advised once a date has been selected.

Additionally, compost and curbside wood chipping dates are being discussed and will be publicized once available.  “We would like to thank our residents for their patience as we work out these details.  There are frequent changes occurring as related to our common practices and with every decision we must consider the health and safety impact for our community, employees and Waste Management staff.” Said Rick Charlebois, Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer.

Residents are reminded that gatherings of five or more people are prohibited by provincial order.  If you must go out, please observe the six-foot minimum for physical distancing.
