PETROLIA 150 COMMITTEE LAUNCHES LIMITED-EDITION COMMEMORATIVE COIN SET

Petrolia – A Committee has been created in Petrolia to celebrate the Town’s sesquicentennial in 2024. The Committee, a volunteer committee of Council is made up of community volunteers, Councillors and one staff member and their goal is to work closely with community groups, organizations and businesses, the County of Lambton and with the Provincial and Federal government to develop a celebration that will include and invite people to celebrate the milestone.

The committee is pleased to offer a limited-edition commemorative coin set that will see a coin added to the collection of five collectible coins over the next five years. This coin set is in a beautiful display box and features important images that depict the history of Petrolia. The back of each coin features the Petrolia 150 logo.

Telling the story of Petrolia, the coins will be released in the following order:

2020 – Where it all began. The three-pole oil derrick.
2021 – The Robert. M. Nicol Library
2022 – Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital
2023 – The “Little Red Bank”
2024 – National Heritage Site, Victoria Hall

Each coin is made from polished and sand-blasted nickel and have no cash value. In 2020, you will receive the display box and the first of the five coins in December, with each coin being available in December for each of the subsequent years.

Each set sells for $50.00 including applicable taxes and is available by calling the Town of Petrolia Municipal Office starting November 13, 2020 at (519)882-2350 with a credit card or visiting Town Hall to purchase. Please add $20 for shipping costs of the five coins over five years. This is a limited-edition collection, as only 250 sets will be sold.

This item will be available for online purchase during the Petrolia Volunteer Business Group online shopping event on November 20, 2020 as well. Tickets for this event are available at thvpp.ca for $10.00, with proceeds going to Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital and by visiting thevpp.ca.

Proceeds from the sale of the coin sets will be used for future Petrolia 150 activities and fundraising initiatives.
