Overnight Vandalism in Petrolia
Petrolia, ON – It is with great disappointment that we advise the public of some overnight vandalism. Two town crosswalks that are a public symbol of acceptance, inclusion and community were vandalized overnight in Petrolia. Not only is this unacceptable, but it is also unwelcome in our community as we strive to welcome all people to find a place of belonging.
Mayor R. Brad Loosley said, “This will not be tolerated. Hate has no home in Petrolia. As we focus on inclusivity and on acceptance of all, we will not allow this discriminatory visual to deter the Town from welcoming diversity and fostering equality. As soon as possible, the crosswalks will be re-painted as a testament to our belief in our community and to acceptance and inclusion.”
The Ontario Provincial Police have been notified, and the Town of Petrolia asks that anyone with information to please contact them at the non-emergency number 1(888)310-1122.
