| | | | | | | | Introduction The Petrolia Discovery Trail was originally a fitness trail in the mid 1970's. The trail came into disrepair and the fitness items were removed. In 2002 the original trail was re-cut and additional loops added. The trail was officially named 'The Petrolia Discovery Trail' in connection with the Petrolia Discovery - a 19th Century working oil field which can be seen beside the trails as they wind through Bridgeview Park - Petrolia's heritage. Mission The Petrolia Discovery Trail and associated trail loops making up the trail provide residents and visitors alike a fun, safe, and natural walking environment through Bridgeview Park. Objectives - To continue to enhance the natural environment of the area by maintaining existing trails without disturbing ecosystems and wild life habitats.
- To provide a learning experience for all age groups through various activities throughout the year to increase trail usage.
- To develop cross country running to host provincial and local meets.
- To protect Petrolia's oil heritage through the trail loops.
