Greenwood Recreation Programming Update – Holiday Family Skating and Social Circle Skating Opportunities

As per the current provincial “Protect” level (yellow) in Lambton County, those that wish to participate in the current public skating programs will be required to pre-register to participate.

The Community Services Department is pleased to offer Family Bubble/Social Circle Skating on three dates during the holidays. A bubble is defined as a group of people with whom you have close physical contact. Bubbles must be “exclusive”.

The ice surface will be divided in half to accommodate as many family bubbles or social circles of up to 10 people as possible during the scheduled times. The schedule is defined in 30-minute intervals. Each family may only reserve one slot per day. Each skater is asked to pay $3.00 upon arrival to participate. Families may arrive ten minutes before their scheduled ice time and are asked to exit the building as soon as possible after leaving the ice.

The town of Petrolia recognizes the importance of physical activity and recreation for the overall health and wellness of our residents. To provide recreation opportunities to our residents, registration will be offered in two phases: the first phase (from Thursday, Dec. 10 – Friday, Dec. 18) will be for Petrolia families only. The person registering the group must be a resident. Phase two of registration (Saturday, Dec. 19 – Wednesday, Dec. 23) will be available to Petrolia and surrounding communities. Timeslots are available on a first come, first served basis.

To pre-register, please send an e-mail to Laurissa Ellsworth at lellsworth@petrolia.ca with the date that you are planning to participate and include the time requested and total number of participants. You will receive a confirmation email with full details about the guidelines and your facility entrance details. Only those that pre-register may participate. Pre-registrations for the new Family Holiday Skate opportunities close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23.

Moms, Pops and Tots will proceed as scheduled with a minor delay on Thursday, December 24, from 11:10 a.m. – noon. Adult Skate on Thursday, December 24 will be cancelled to permit for more family skating opportunities.
