Greenwood Recreation Programming Update – Family Skating Opportunities

Effective immediately, as per the current provincial “Protect” level (yellow) in Lambton County, those that wish to participate in the current public skating programs (outlined below), we be required to pre-register to participate.

To pre-register, please send an e-mail to Laurissa Ellsworth lellsworth@petrolia.ca  with the date that you are planning to participate and names and total number of participants.  You WILL NOT receive a reply unless pre-registered capacity has been met or there is an event cancellation.  Only those that pre-register may participate.  Registration closes 2 hours before each event.

Due to the limitations of 10 persons per scheduled event, staff have added two Moms, Pops and Tots events weekly on Wednesday and Friday.  An additional Adult Skate has been added on Wednesday as well.

The protocols for all forms of public skating events have been adapted to fit with provincial and local health regulations. Effective Monday, December 7, the Greenwood Rec Centre will provide public skating in the following formats only during Phase 1.

The Greenwood Recreation Centre in Petrolia has adapted facility scheduling to allow for deep cleaning between user groups and throughout the day.  These changes include more time between groups, a full sanitation and deep cleaning of benches, the lobby, washrooms, and public areas.

The Town of Petrolia is committed to creating safe, healthy, vibrant spaces. In promoting shared positive experiences, we ask all participants to observe the principles of public safety, respect, and courtesy.

Given the COVID-19 reduction in capacity, and due to the additional time between users for sanitation, residents are advised that, at this time, Sunday Public Skating will not be available.

We thank you for your continued support as we navigate the changes to the COVID-19 guidelines and work to keep you safe and well.
