Changes to how Petrolia merchants conduct business have been evolving throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most popular local shopping events – Shop Like Charlotte – an event that was due to celebrate its 10th anniversary of shopping in Petrolia and supporting the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital was sidelined for 2020 due to gathering and other restrictions. Traditionally, this popular event sells out in record time each year and has proven to be a great evening of shopping and socializing.

The cancellation of the 2020 shopping event encouraged organizers to think outside of the storefront. For the very first time, participating Petrolia merchants will offer a one-night online shopping event known as “Clickety-Click-Click”. This event is taking place from the comfort of your own home and will provide shoppers a safe way to get some great deals, shop locally, see some savings, and find some unique items just ahead of the Christmas season.

Tickets for the online-only event will be sold through the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia website only. The ticket cost is $10 for a one-time use, unique, user code that will provide the shopper with access to the Clickety-Click-Click Shop for the event.

The $10 ticket will still be shared with the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital as in previous years. Tickets go on sale Monday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. and are available only by visiting www.thevpp.ca and selecting “Buy Online”.

Participating merchants will have specials on products and featured products available for one evening only, and only to those that purchase a ticket. The shopper can choose curbside pickup, in store pick up or delivery if available. The online shopping portal will be secure and monitored throughout the event. Items purchased during the event will be available as early as the following morning.

“We recognize that now, more than ever, we have to think of our local merchants first when shopping. This event is providing the safety for them to host a sale event without a large crowd gathering and compromising anyone’s health and safety.” Said Denise Thibeault, event organizer. “We have been thinking of a way to have a large-scale shopping event with physical distancing and this event came together.” She added.

This online shopping event is open to all merchants in the Town of Petrolia and so far, 18 have registered to participate. Event organizers expect that more will continue to be added as the event gets closer.

Look forward to shopping at one of these great Petrolia businesses with more to be announced:

“…This is exciting. Not only can we accommodate offers from any Petrolia Merchant on the platform for the sale of items, services, subscriptions, food items and more, but we can do so safely. This is just one of several local shopping campaigns being considered for Petrolia. After the resounding success of the receipt program and Facebook Draws, we are certainly pleased with the support that is being shown for our merchants.” Said Laurissa Ellsworth, Director of Marketing, Arts and Communications.

Tickets for the virtual event go on sale Monday, October 5 at 9:00 a.m. and are available only by visiting www.thevpp.ca and selecting “Buy Online”. Tickets will only be sold online, and participants will receive an e-mail 48 hours before the event with their single use, unique log in code.
