2023 Budget Approved in Petrolia 3% Municipal Tax Rate Increase
Petrolia, ON –Petrolia Town Council approved the 2023 municipal budget tonight in regular Council. The approved budget will see a 3% increase to the Municipal tax rate.
Mayor R. Brad Loosley said, “I would like to thank Rick Charlebois and his team for an excellent budget and look forward to Petrolia continuing to move forward with some exciting projects and infrastructure improvements.”
Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer Rick Charlebois said, “The 2023 budget was a culmination of many months of work by staff and represents the very best recommendation with the most forward momentum for our busy, growing community.”
Following the approval of the Town General 2023 Budget, staff will proceed with several capital projects including:
- The reconstruction of Tank Street, and Derby and Holland Streets
- The Community Recreation Project at Petrolia YMCA
- Audio and video recording equipment to be installed for online viewing of Council Meetings
d) The installation of a new Town entrance sign South of Petrolia on Oil Heritage Road
e) A Petrolia 150 legacy project for our community
f) New public parking lot near the Petrolia Farmers’ Market
The Town’s Sewer and Water rates both increased by 4% in 2023. Our Sewer major capital work for 2023 will include the sewer portion of the road reconstruction projects. Our major 2023 Water capital includes: the water portion of the road reconstruction projects; and work on the replacement of our Water Treatment Plant Intake which is estimated to cost $16.2 million.
