2019 Christmas Parade Announcement and Registration Forms

Posted: September 24, 2019

The Town of Community Services Advisory Committee is pleased to host the Annual Santa Claus Parade on December 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., downtown Petrolia.  A “Christmas in Space” theme is planned for this year.

“Christmas in Space” speaks to the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.  It is also in celebration of Sarnia’s Colonel Chris Hadfield – The first Canadian commander of the International Space Station, a New York Times bestselling author, an Order of Canada recipient, and he has a star on the Canada Walk of Fame.  He is also famous for playing David Bowie’s “A Space Oddity” in space, a song which celebrates 50 years this year as well.

The Committee is now accepting applications for floats at Town Hall in Petrolia or on the Town website.  The Annual Petrolia Santa Claus Parade is December 7, at 2:00 p.m. through downtown Petrolia.  For more information or to print a copy of the entry form please visit www.town.petrolia.on.ca.  Registrants are encouraged to “…have a lot of fun with this one!  We’re looking for some creativity and hope to see all kinds of community groups and organizations participate again this year.” said Dave Menzies, Director of Facilities and Community Services.

Christmas in the Park returns on December 6, 2019, and the friendly chili cook-off competition is already seeing some participants sign up.  The Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club will have their Angel Tree, and the community Christmas trees will return so that residents can add their non-returnable ornaments to them.  The lighting of the lights will take place at 6:00 p.m. and the free wagon rides will continue until 8:00 p.m.
